THE COMPANYTHE DIRECTORSTHE STAFF

THE COMPANY:

Waterlands Productions was formed under the direction of Anthony Archer-Wills and Bryan Hirst in 1996.

We specialise in the creation, restoration and development of water features and their associated landscapes.

Waterlands involvement in water ranges from producing the principle design through to the completion of the construction of that feature, working either with private clients and their architects and garden designers or as consultant to various municipal and local government departments with water features which need to be maintained.

A considerable part of our work involves the restoration of faulty or dilapidated water features.

Most, but not all, of our work is in the United Kingdom, and our turnover in our first year of operation was in the region of £250,000.

We are a member of BALI - The British Association of Landscape Industries.

WE CARRY PUBLIC, PRODUCT AND EMPLOYEE LIABILITY INSURANCE.
WATERLANDS PRODUCTIONS LTD IS A PRIVATE LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY FORMED IN 1996.
REGISTRATION NO. 3239362. LONDON. ENGLAND.

THE DIRECTORS:

Anthony Archer-Wills has been designing and constructing water gardens of all sizes for over twenty-five years. In all, he has designed and built more than 2000 water features - from small ponds in urban gardens to vast lakes on country estates. He runs a design consultancy and water plant nursery in West Sussex. His innovative approach, often using new materials and boldly imaginative construction techniques, is widely acclaimed by gardening experts. He is much in demand, in both Eurpoe and the United States, as a lecturer on every aspect of water feature construction and planting.

"I have been designing and constructing water gardens of all sizes for over twenty-five years. It has been my great pleasure to work with designers, where the particular challenges posed by water can be approached at an early stage in the project.

I now find that the increase in my consultancy, lecturing and writing - both home and abroad - has made it difficult for me to undertake the construction stage of water gardens personally.

So, in 1996 I cofounded the company Waterlands Productions Ltd, of which I am a director, with Bryan Hirst. Together we have developed our experienced and fully equipped teams. Our craftsmen are talented, reliable and easy to work with.

I will continue to be available for consultancy in all stages of design. Bryan and his team at Waterlands will undertake the construction of projects. We are therefore able to offer a professional and comprehensive service from first conception through to completion.

Bryan R. Hirst (Managing Director) HND, AI Hort qualified in Landscape studies and Contract Management at Kingston School of Architecture. He has worked with Anthony Archer-Wills since 1994 on many of the projects Anthony has designed, undertaking the construction through to completion.

Bryan is a facilitator and Senior Contract Manager with good team supervisor skills. He is an experienced arborist, specialising in tree surgery. He has a particular interest in historic fountains and you may wish to read his dissertation on this subject.

THE STAFF:

James T. Fox HND joined Waterlands as Landscape Contract Manager in September 1997 after graduating from Kingston University. He has worked on various projects in the field of gardening and landscaping in Scotland and the South of France in recent years. He has a particular interest in aquatic plants.

Additionally, Waterlands employs experienced craftsmen skilled in all aspects of water-feature construction, planting and landscaping. These individuals make up qualified teams, each with its own area of expertise, such as:-

  • Formal ponds, fountains and streams
  • Lakes and woodland ponds
  • Clay workings
  • Maintenance
  • Other specialist skills like carpentry, electrical work, stone work and planting

Each specialist team undertakes a water project depending on its nature and their area of expertise.

All our teams are fully aware of the potential hazards likely to be encountered in any water-based project, whether it is the "ground-water", "geology", "recirculation", or the use of the appropriate materials for the job.

We are always interested in interviewing talented and careful professionals eager to work on our prestigious projects.
